ABOUT US

Adriano Properties (within ‘Cluster One’ of River Park Estate) has been skillfully and carefully designed for residents who desire affordable quality homes in a secure serene environment. Each property is located within a well planned and maintained gated community, with exceptional infrastructure. Our development, along the Abuja Airport Road (near Shoprite Gateway Shopping Mall), is a 13 minute drive to the airport and a 15 minute drive (in the other direction) to Abuja City Centre, thereby providing both convenience for travel, business and pleasure. In 2019, the Honourable Minister of the FCT approved the issue of Certificates of Occupancy to all Adriano Properties within ‘Cluster One’ of River Park Estate.

How I became a professional real estate developer in Nigeria

I set up Adriano Properties in the UK and Nigeria in 2014 and US 2019. The company’s mission is to help Nigerians living abroad (and foreign expatriates living in Nigeria) purchase quality Nigerian homes with secure title and low cost financing, The story below outlines how a hobby morphed unexpectedly into a fully blown real estate business.

Over two decades ago I made attempts, through family and friends to own property in Nigeria but was always let down by those whom I thought I could trust. Although I spent most of my working life in the UK, US and South Africa (and at various times owned properties in those countries) I always intended to own a home in Nigeria. In short, I wanted to lay claim on a piece of Nigerian real estate that I could call my own - in homage to my parents who returned to Nigeria after retirement in the UK and yearned for me to visit them at home more frequently.

I had worked abroad as a manager and agent for sports stars such as: Lennox Lewis, Mikel John Obi and Thierry Henry (in partnership with football agents John Shittu and Jerome Anderson). I saw the quality of homes those sports stars built for their retirement, in their countries of origin, and wanted to emulate them, to some extent, back home in Nigeria. Following the success of floating my company ‘Sport Entertainment and Media Plc.’ (that I co-founded with FIFA football agent Jerome Anderson) on the London Stock Alternative Investment Market (AIM) in the early 2000s I invested in farmland near Abuja airport, Nigeria – Abuja is the fastest growing capital in Africa (according to the United Nations in 2010).

After getting planning and building approval to transform the farmland into a secure mixed use residential and commercial housing estate I started a new hobby in late life: house building. I built quality homes to international standards for family and friends - with the help of a seasoned Irish builder living temporarily in Nigeria. Word about my successful building exploits circulated with my growing circle of Nigerian friends, who lived abroad but yearned to own ‘hassle free’ a piece of Nigerian real estate. Soon, what was a hobby turned into a fully blown real estate business of over 200 properties and semi-developed plots. Today, over 100 properties have been fully developed and the remainder are at various stages of development. Most of the properties are featured on the overseas section of property website: Rightmove - who get millions of visitors to their website each month. I get calls daily from Nigerians across the globe who regularly access Rightmove on-line looking for holiday, retirement and AirBnB rental homes in Nigeria. The moral of my story is: Be careful what you wish for!

I have been looking at investment properties in Abuja for a while, and I have been doing my research and I found Adriano Properties online. One of the things they really impressed me was the details that have gone into putting the deals together. I am an active investor and I constantly get opportunities, and one of the key things that I have been looking at is seeing opportunities in Nigeria and how to get the best out of it. I want to say that what I have found in Adriano Properties is they have done a bit further than all the other developers. One of the key thing I will say that have impressed me about Adriano Properties is the fact that a lot of efforts have been put to ensure that what you see is what you get. So, there is a lot of details that have been put to ensure that you can do your own personal due diligent your self which is really important to lot of people; the place I can go to check the validity of the land. And they have done a lot of work to making sure I can bank via a UK bank and lots of other stuffs they have put in place.

This won’t be the first time I will be investing in Nigeria, I have got some opportunities in Lagos, but from what I have seen regarding Adriano Properties is situated near the airport, so I won’t be investing to living there all by my self because most of my business are based in London. I will be investing to build and rent out the properties and Adriano properties will manage it for me. What I liked the most was the journey, it is not something that happened just overnight but it is something that have taken years in years since around 2006.

Dr. Adrian is a man of integrity, he is honest and reliable, we have been to Abuja and have seen the project. So, what he is saying is exactly how it is; he is not exaggerating, he is not telling you what is not there. A man like that we are able to work with him because we know we are not going to get into trouble or get fined by anyone.
